Euro 2016 and Russia 2018: TV rights awarded for European qualifiers in 20 territories

Broadcast rights for the European zone's qualifying matches for Euro 2016 (France, from 10/06 to 10/07/2016) and the 2018 World Cup (Russia) have been awarded in 20 countries and regions worldwide, announced UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) on 30/07/2014.

These rights apply to all broadcast platforms (TV, mobile and internet). They were acquired through CAA Eleven, the agency that manages and sells the broadcast rights for competitions between national teams organised by UEFA.

In Finland, the public broadcaster YLE acquired the broadcast rights for the qualifying matches of the Finnish national team for both competitions. In France, the pay-TV group Canal+ got the rights for all European zone qualifiers for 2014-2017, except for France (for which it got only delayed broadcast rights), as Cyril Linette, sports director of the group, had indicated on 10/07/2014.

The pay-TV group Setanta acquired the rights to all qualifiers for eight countries except for the live matches of the national team in question (for which it only acquired differed broadcast rights). These…
