Ligue 2: LFP board rejects Luzenac's promotion due to inadequate stadium

"The board of directors of the LFP (French Professional Football League) decided by unanimous vote of the 24 present or represented members to deny Luzenac AP's promotion to Ligue 2, as the club does not have a stadium meeting the regulatory safety standards," the league said on 08/08/2014.

"Over several months, the club had been informed by the LFP many times that if promoted it had to have a stadium that met the safety standards to play in Ligue 2. In spite of multiple reminders, the club did not take the necessary actions to play in such a stadium throughout the year, nor did it put forward an alternative stadium solution that was up to the safety norms," said the LFP.

Luzenac Ariège Pyrénées made a deal on 29/05/2014 with the organisation Les Amis du Stade Toulousain (rugby, Top 14) to play in the Ernest-Wallon stadium (capacity 19,500) in Toulouse for their Ligue 2 home games in 2014-15. The stadium is not considered up to the LFP's standards, particularly due to insufficient lighting.
