Top 5 stadium attendance: the Bundesliga again leads the way in 2013-14

The Bundesliga is the European Top 5 league (Barclays Premier League, Bundesliga, Liga BBVA, Serie A TIM and Ligue 1) that achieved the best average attendance during the 2013-14 season, with 42,861 spectators on average per rmatch, compared to 36,657 spectators in the Premier League, 26,776 in Liga BBVA, 23,504 in Serie A and 21,092 in Ligue 1.

With 80,291 spectators on average in the Signal Iduna Park (capacity 80,645), the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund had the best attendance in Europe in 2013-14. However, the club had a slightly lower attendance than in 2012-13 (80,543 spectators on average). In total (matches in all competitions) Borussia Dortmundestablished a new cumulative attendance record during 2013-14, with 1,855,156 total spectators over 24 games (77,298 on average). These matches include the Bundesliga (17 fixtures), the Champions League (5), the German Cup (1) and the German Supercup (1).

Six Bundesliga clubs are in the Top 10 average attendance in the five major European leagues in 2013-14. Manchester United FC finished second, behind Dortmund, with 75,207 average…
