European Union: 27 Sports Ministers adopt a resolution on the European sport model

• A pyramidal structure with promotion and relegation
• Organisation of sport within national structures, with one federation per sport
• Solidarity with lower levels of sport
• Promotion of open competitions
These are the key elements of the "Resolution of the Council of the European Union on a European Sport Model" unanimously adopted by the Sports Ministers of the 27 countries of the EU in Brussels (BEL) on 30/11/2021.

By approving this resolution, the Council of the European Union is inviting "member states to promote values in sport and sport organisations and is asking the sport movement to ensure that the organisation of sports competitions complies with the principle of openness, gives priority to sporting merit and respects fundamental and human rights," said the European Council.
