Italy: PlayStation, main partner of the eSerie A TIM, Lega Serie A's esports competition

PlayStation, the video game console brand belonging to the Japanese company Sony Interactive Entertainment (Sony Corporation Group), has extended its partnership with Lega Serie A and become the main partner of the eSerie A TIM 2022, the Italian League's esports competition, announced the body on 30/11/2021.

"In addition to being the main partner of the eSerie A TIM 2022, PlayStation will host on PS4 and PS5 consoles, the online qualifiers open to all, which will allow players who qualify for the finals to be selected as representatives of an eSerie A TIM 2022 team," said the Lega Serie A.

PlayStation acquired the naming rights to the Supercoppa d'Italia (Italian Supercup) in 2020-21, on 16/12/2020. As part of the agreement, the Japanese company also became the "official console" of the eSerie A TIM 2021. This partnership accompanied the release of the PS5, Sony's latest video game console, which has been marketed in Europe since 19/11/2020.
