"Putting the game of football at the centre of our thoughts" was the title of the 11-point electoral platform of Carlo Tavecchio, who was elected president of the FIGC (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, the Italian federation) on 11/08/2014 in Rome (ITA).

"Our sports culture should become a culture of work. Nothing is possible if we do not work together. There is no man of providence, no one to perform miracles," said Tavecchio in an introductory statement. "Like in a team, football needs everyone working in the same direction, and in a method that involves sharing consistent objectives and decisions." Tavecchio got 63.63% of the vote in the third round of voting, versus 33.95% for his opponent, the former international midfielder Demetrio Albertini.
