England: SkyBet game enables fan to win €313,500 in transfers for his favorite club

The British online sports betting operator SkyBet launched a competition that enables fans to win £250,000 (approximately €315,000) to be used by their favorite club for transfers, on 25/07/2014. This competition concerns Football League clubs (second, third and fourth English division, 72 clubs in total), of which SkyBet is the title sponsor through 2018.

Fans who bet with SkyBet will earn a token for every pound they spend, putting them in with a chance of winning the £250,000 transfer fund for their club in a draw on 17/12/2014. The individual will also collect a cash prize of £5,000 (approximately €6,270). The club that wins the €313,500 will have to spend that money during the 2014-15 January transfer window .

"This is a fantastic initiative from Sky Bet that gives those supporters that enjoy a bet the opportunity to earn funds for their club in the process," said Shaun Harvey, the Football League’s chief executive on 25/07/2014.
