Tennis: Michael Dowse to step down as executive director of the US Tennis Association in March 2022

Michael Dowse, CEO and executive director of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), will step down from his position in March 2022, according to the body on 08/12/2021. "Dowse was named USTA CEO and executive director in October of 2019 after six years as president of Wilson Sporting Goods Co., and assumed his position on 01/01/2020.

"Dowse will remain as CEO until 01.03/2022, and will assist with the transition. During that time, the USTA board will conduct a search for a new CEO and finalise succession plans," explained the Association.

"During his tenure, Dowse not only led the USTA through a major restructuring and implementation of a new strategic plan that strengthened its financial outlook and focuses on its mission to promote tennis at all levels in the U.S., but through the two-plus years of the Covid-19 pandemic, during which the US Open was preserved and interest and participation in tennis dramatically rebounded," added the USTA.
