FIFPro: David Aganzo (ESP) succeeds Philippe Piat (FRA) as president

Spaniard David Aganzo, born on 10/01/1981, was elected for four years (2021-2025) president of FIFPro at the international footballers' union's congress, in Paris (FRA) on 16/11/2021. He succeeds Frenchman Philippe Piat, who has held this position since 2013 (two four-year terms) and who becomes honorary president.

"FIFPro's executive committee proposed David Aganzo as a candidate and the congress, composed of FIFPro's member associations from around the world (whose number increased from 64 to 66 on 16/11/2021, see below), voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Spanish leader," said the AFE (Association of Spanish Footballers), of which David Aganzo has been president since 28/11/2017.

"I am assuming a position that great leaders have held. All my predecessors, with dedication and effort, have strengthened the figure of the footballer over time. My deepest respect to Philippe Piat, a good friend and a leader who in recent years has given FIFPro an important boost," said David Aganzo following his election.
