This is further proof that we are well past the tipping point in the migration of fans from viewing sports on linear pay TV, to streaming services," said James Rushton, Co-CEO of DAZN Group, 13/12/2021.

The Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica and the British OTT platform DAZN, acquired the live broadcasting pay TV rights to LaLiga Santander in Spain, for the 2022-2027 cycle, for €4.95bn (or €990m on average per season), on 13/12/2021. Movistar+ (Telefonica's pay-TV package) and DAZN will each broadcast five games per matchday of equivalent choice. Three matchdays per season will be broadcast exclusively on Movistar+ (except for one free-to-air co-broadcast match not yet allocated), i.e. 205 matches per season compared to 175 for DAZN.
