DFL: Hans-Joachim Watzke to succeed Peter Peters as chairman, Peters aims to become DFB president

Hans-Joachim Watzke will succeed Peter Peters on the DFL's supervisory board and executive committee, from 11/02/2022, announced the German League on 14/12/2021. Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) was elected by the clubs of the first and second divisions during the body's members assembly.

Hans-Joachim Watzke will chair the supervisory board of Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH, the commercial structure of the DFL, and will also be the 1^st deputy speaker of the Deutsche Fußball Liga e.V., its associative structure (for more information on the DFL's structure, see "further reading" section).

Peter Peters has been forced to leave the DFL because he wishes to stand for election as president of the German Football Association (DFB), which will take place on 11/03/2022 (see below). The former administrative and financial director of FC Schalke 04 (2.Bundesliga) had been a member of the DFL executive committee since 2004.
