"Barclays will invest more than £30m (€35.1m) in women and girls' football over the period from 2022-2025, doubling the existing investment, and setting a record for investment in UK women's sport," announced The Football Association, on 15/12/2021.

With this title sponsorship extension (which also includes the naming of the English women's second division, Barclays FA Women's Championship), English women's club football has significant resources compared to the other European Top 5 women's leagues and notably the D1 Arkema. If we add the amounts paid by Sky and the BBC to broadcast the English women's league in the UK over the 2021-2024 cycle (a minimum of £15m/€17.45m per season, including production and marketing costs), the two main commercial partners will invest more than £17m (€20m) in 2021-22, then more than £19m (€22.2m) from 2022-23.

This total thus represents 10 times more than the investments made in France by the pay-TV group Canal+ (around €1.2m per season for 2018-2023) and Arkema, title sponsor of the French women's top flight (D1 Arkema), for a period of three years…
