France: games to be "definitively" stopped if a player or referee is injured by a projectile

"From now on, when a referee or a player is physically injured by a projectile from the stands, the match will be systematically and definitively interrupted," announced Gérald Darmanin, French Minister of the Interior, Éric Dupond-Moretti, Keeper of the Seals and Minister of Justice, and Roxana Maracineanu, Minister Delegate in charge of Sports, on 16/12/2021.

"Several working meetings between representatives of the Ministries of the Interior, Justice, National Education, Youth and Sports, the Fédération Française de Football (FFF) and the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) have resulted in a mobilisation to effectively combat violence in stadiums," explained the ministers, who first met on 23/11/2021, the day after the Olympique Lyonnais - Olympique de Marseille game (Matchday 14 of Ligue 1), which was definitively stopped after Dimitri Payet was hit in the head by a water bottle thrown from a stand at the Groupama Stadium.
