Matchday 17 of the 2021-22 Bundesliga season drew an average of 12,200 spectators per match from Friday 17 to Sunday 19/12/2021. The average fill rate was 23.8%.

After a significant rebound that began on Matchday 8, attendance at German stadiums has dropped significantly since Matchday 13, due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. As for the start of the season, Bundesliga stadiums are back to limited capacities, and some are even closed to the public.

FC Bayern Munich - VfL Wolfsburg (4-0), RB Leipzig - DSC Arminia Bielefeld (0-2) and SpVgg Greuther Fürth - FC Augsburg (0-0) were played behind closed doors. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Borussia Mönchengladbach (1-1) and SC Friburg - Bayer 04 Leverkusen (2-1) each posted a symbolic attendance of 750 spectators.

The average attendance of the Bundesliga at the end of the first half of the season is 20,527 spectators per game (excluding matches that drew less than 1,000 spectators), for an average fill rate of 47.4%.

  • The 18 Bundesliga clubs posted an average of 40,880 spectators per match in 2019-20 (over 25 matchdays)…
