€2.5 to €3bn over a four-year cycle is the total sum that the 55 member associations in the UEFA zone would lose if the FIFA project for a biennial World Cup were to materialise, according to UEFA on 17/12/2021, following "an independent study" commissioned by "the renowned (British) consultancy firm Oliver & Ohlbaum (document available to download)."

These losses would be incurred "from centralised revenues (media rights of men's European qualifiers and Nations League; distributions from UEFA Euro) and from individual sources such as ticketing and sponsorship," explained the European body.

UEFA has published these results while FIFA is holding a Global Summit on Monday 20/12/2021, via video conference, dedicated to the international calendar and its idea of a World Cup every two years.
