More than 5,000 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 during a vaccination day organised by Chelsea FC (Premier League) at Stamford Bridge (London, ENG) on Saturday 18/12/2021, according to the Premier League on 20/12/2021. The London club had previously implemented a similar initiative on Saturday 17/07/2021.

This contribution to the national vaccination campaign comes at a time when the number of cases in England are increasing due to the outbreak of the highly contagious Omicron variant. The Premier League was forced to cancel 10 matches in total over the last three matchdays due to too many confirmed positive cases among the players and staff of the teams concerned. However, on 20/12/2021, the Premier League decided to maintain the schedule for the next three matchdays, starting with the Boxing Day fixtures on 26/12/2021 (see below).
