Formula E: net-zero carbon single-seaters from 2022-23, 45% reduction in global emissions by 2030

"The new 'Gen3' racing car, which will enter competition in season 9 (2022-23), will be certified net-zero carbon. In addition, Formula E will further reduce its emissions by 45% by 2030," said the organiser of the electric single-seater world championship in its sustainability report for season 2020-21, published on 22/12/2021 (document available to download).

"The new report details a series of notable ‘firsts’ in sustainability achieved and implemented during the year (see below) by Formula E and its wider ecosystem of teams, partners and stakeholders, reflecting the Championship’s mission of accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles through elite sport," said the body, which has notably committed to several United Nations programs dedicated to environmental protection during the 2020-21 season (see below).
