Social media: Premier League, best performing league among the European Top 5 in 2021

The Premier League has generated more than 9.6 billion interactions on social media in 2021 (from 01/01 to 15/12/2021), making it the best performing football league in terms of engagement, according to data from Talkwalker, an American company specialised in social media analytics, published by Lega Serie A on 23/12/2021. The English professional league performed particularly well on Instagram, where it generated 76% of its annual interactions (7.3 billion, see details below).

Among the European Top 5 leagues, the Premier League is ahead of LaLiga Santander (6.1 billion interactions) and Serie A TIM (3.7 billion). Ligue 1 Uber Eats is in fourth place with 3.5 billion annual interactions, followed by the Bundesliga with 1.4 billion interactions over the period.
