Spain: Liga refuses to reinstate Murcia in second division; Mirandes brought back up

"La Liga Adelante (Spanish second division) will begin this weekend (23 and 24/08/2014) and Mirandes will be included," said Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish LFP (Professional Football League), following the league's executive committee meeting on 18/08/2014. The LFP has thus rejected the 12/08/2014 decision by Madrid's Mercantile Court to re-integrate Real Murcia in Liga Adelante.

Real Murcia, 4^th in Liga Adelante in 2013-14, were relegated to the third division by the executive committee of the LFP on 07/08/2014. The league criticised Murcia for not meeting the economic criteria required of professional clubs, notably vis-à-vis the public treasury. Real Murcia's tax debt was estimated at €14m by the Spanish newspaper El Pais on 29/07/2014. Deportivo Mirandes, 19^th in 2013-14 Liga Adelante, were brought back up on 07/08/2014 to take the place of Real Murcia in the 2014-15 Liga Adelante.
