Social media: Manchester United FC, top European football club in terms of engagement in 2021

Manchester United FC (Premier League) is the top European football club in terms of engagement on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) worldwide in 2021 (from 01/01 to 15/12/2021), according to a report by Talkwalker, an American platform specialised in social media analytics, some of which were released by the Lega Serie A, on 23/12/2021.

The Manchester club was ranked above Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Uber Eats, 2^nd) FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander, 3^rd), Juventus FC (Serie A TIM, 4^th), Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander, 5^th), Chelsea FC (Premier League, 6^th) and Liverpool FC (Premier League, 7^th).

The best performing football league in terms of engagement was the Premier League, followed by LaLiga Santander and Serie A TIM (see details below). "These are results with really high numbers that show how football is always one of the major topics of conversation on the web and how the individual results of the teams are closely related to those of the league to which they belong," explained Stefano Russo, sales director media & sports at Talkwalker.
