The federal council of the FIGC (Federazione Italiana di Giuoco Calcio, the Italian football federation) chose a new management team at its meeting on 18/08/2014. These appointments follow the election of Carlo Tavecchio as president of the FIGC by the elective assembly on 11/08/2014.

Maurizio Beretta, president of the Lega Serie A (the league that manages the Italian first division) since 2009, was elected first vice-president of the FIGC by the federal council. With 12 votes, he beat out Mario Macalli (10 votes), who was re-elected vice-president of the federation, a position he has held since 2009.

Carlo Tavecchio proposed and the board nominated Claudio Lotito to lead development for the FIGC; Claudio Lotito is the president of Lazio (Serie A) and a member of the federal council. Fiona May, former long jump world champion (1995 and 2001), was asked by the FIGC president to create a commission that will fight against racism and all forms of discrimination.
