Tennis: Kia, title sponsor of the new Australian Open court, the "Kia Arena" (5,000 capacity)

Kia, a South Korean car manufacturer, has extended its partnership with the Australian Open Tennis Championships and will become the title sponsor of one of the courts of the Australian Grand Slam tournament from 2022 onwards, announced the competition organisers on 04/01/2022. The 2022 edition of the Australian Open will take place in Melbourne from 17 to 30/01/2022.

The new court, now called the "Kia Arena", has a capacity of 5,000, the fourth largest in the Melbourne Park complex behind the Rod Laver Arena (14,820 capacity), the Melbourne Arena (10,500 capacity) and the Margaret Court Arena (7,500 capacity). This 5,000-seat capacity corresponds to that of the Court Simonne-Mathieu at Roland-Garros (Grand Slam, FRA), which was inaugurated in 2019 and is the third largest court in the complex located at Porte d'Auteuil (Paris, FRA).

The South Korean manufacturer, which has been the major partner of the Australian Open since 2002 (committed until 2023, €40m/year), will therefore benefit from increased visibility within the Kia Arena, which "includes:
