France: Canal+ to broadcast a women's 1^st division match free-to-air for the first time (22/01/2022)

Montpellier Hérault Sport Club - Olympique Lyonnais on Matchday 13 of the 2021-22 D1 Arkema, will be broadcast free-to-air in France on the DTT channel C8 (Canal+ group), as well as on the pay-TV channel Canal+ on Saturday 22/01/2022 (kick-off at 17:00 CET), announced C8 and the FFF on 04/01/2022. 

This is the first time that a women's first division match will be broadcast free-to-air by the Canal+ group, which holds the broadcasting rights to the competition for the 2018-2023 cycle.

In order to further the exposure of D1 Arkema, Canal+ has already broadcasted several matches between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais over the past few seasons at prime time on its pay-TV channel. The best audience was posted on Matchay 10 of the 2018-19 season (1-1 between the two teams) with an average of 487,000 viewers and a peak audience of 836,000 at the beginning of the match on Sunday 18/11/2018 (kick-off at 21:00 CET), according to data from the audience measurement institute Médiamétrie.
