FC Barcelona: FIFA confirms transfer ban in 2015; club lodges appeal

FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) Appeals Committee rejected the appeal lodged by FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) and confirms "a transfer ban which will see the club prevented from registering any players at both national and international level for two complete and consecutive transfer periods, starting with the next registration period (January 2015), given that the appeal of the club had been granted suspensive effect", said the international organisation, on 20/08/2014. The club must also pay a fine of CHF 450,000 (approximately €371,000).

The Spanish club was initially sanctioned with a transfer ban for the 2014-15 season after it was found in breach with Article 19 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players when ten minor players, registered with FC Barcelona, played in competitions for the club between 2009 and 2013, on 02/02/2014.
