Italy/Serie A TIM: US Salernitana 1919 confirms having found a buyer

"On 31/12/2021, a binding agreement was concluded for the sale of the entire share capital of US Salernitana 1919, with the consequent extension of the deadline until 14/02/2022 for completion of the sale, initially set for 31/12/2021," announced Melior Trust S.r.l. and Widar Trust S.r.l, two legal structures united under the name "Trust Salernitana 2021" and entrusted with the administration of the club since July 2021 with the mission to sell it on 10/01/2022.

Promoted to the Serie A TIM at the end of the 2020-21 season, US Salernitana is 50% owned by Enrico Lotito (via Omnia Service Srl), son of Claudio Lotito, and 50% by the Mezzaroma family (via Morgenstern Srl), the family of the latter's wife. Claudio Lotito is already the owner of SS Lazio (Serie A TIM), of which Omnia Service is a "related party", as the Roman club's financial statements show.

The Italian Federation's (FIGC) regulations (see below) prohibit the same person from controlling - even indirectly - two Serie A clubs: the sale of Salernitana to new owners was therefore a necessary prerequisite for the effective…
