Cameroon 2021: first Africa Cup of Nations for Patrice Motsepe (RSA), president of CAF

10 months after his election in Rabat (Morocco) on 12/03/2021, Patrice Motsepe (South Africa) who will be 60 years old on 28/01/2022, is experiencing his first Africa Cup of Nations as president of the Confederation of African Football, in Cameroon, which began on 09/01/2022.

Sole candidate following the negotiated withdrawal of his three rivals, Augustin Senghor (Senegal), Jacques Anouma (Ivory Coast) and Ahmed Yahya (Mauritania), Motsepe was elected by acclamation at CAF's 43^rd general assembly, thus becoming the seventh president (the first from South Africa) of the African body founded in Khartoum (Ethiopia) on 08/02/1957.
