Covid/Italy: new protocol to prevent clubs from playing if over 35% of their players test positive

The Serie A TIM and other team sports will not be able to play if more than 35% of their squads (not including staff) test positive for Covid-19: this is the provision of the new protocol presented by the Italian government to harmonise health measures in sport on 12/01/2022.

Adopted during a meeting with representatives of the regions, the document, in order to come into force, must be validated by the CTS (Comitato tecnico-scientifico, a specialised body created on 05/02/2020 to advise the government in the fight against Covid-19). If confirmed, the measure will allow for a single procedure, without the risk of differing decisions by local health authorities.
