Bundesliga: Signal Iduna extends naming contract with Borussia Dortmund stadium through 2025-26

Signal Iduna, a German company that specialises in insurance and financial services, has extended its naming contract with Borussia Dortmund's (Bundesliga) stadium (capacity 80,700) through 2025-26, the club announced on 21/08/2014.

Signal Iduna holds the naming rights of the stadium (formerly called Westfalenstadion) since October 2005. With this new contract, BVB, the owner of Signal Iduna Park, will receive an estimated €5.8m per year. The annual amount of the previous contract, which was set to end in 2021, was €4.7m per year.

"We wanted to support the growth of BVB. We will benefit from the increased brand awareness and the sales dynamic is very positive. We want to reinforce it with the investment of new capital", said Ulrich Leitermann, CEO of Signal Iduna.

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) announced a capital increase through the issuance of 24.55m shares valued at €4.66 each, or €114.7m in total, onto the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Germany) on 21/08/2014. 17.6m of these shares (or 71.69% of the increased capital) are reserved for three of Dortmund's partners: the German kit…
