USA: Record audience on NBC for first Premier League match-day (3.3m viewers)

The American free - and pay - TV group NBC registered the best audience for an opening Premier League week-end in the United States, on 16 and 17/08/2014, announced NBC Sports Group on 19/08/2014.

In total, 3.3m American viewers followed the five 2014-15 Premier League match-day fixtures broadcast by the NBC group. This figure is 3% higher than during the 2013-14 opening week-end (2.3m viewers).

The Arsenal - Crystal Palace (2-1) fixture (kickoff at 12:30 EDT) on 16/08/2014, was watched by 885,000 viewers on average on the free channel NBC. It is the most-watched football game in the US during a first Premier League match-day. It is 12% higher (792,000 viewers) than the Swansea - Manchester United (1-4) game that inaugurated the 2013-14 season on NBC on 17/08/2013.

Newcastle - Manchester City (0-2), broadcast on the pay-TV channel NBCSN on 17/08/2014 (kickoff at 11:00 EDT), was watched by 514,000 viewers on average, the best audience for a first Premier League match-day broadcast in the United States on cable. The 2014-15 fixture on NBC was watched by 8% more viewers than Arsenal …
