LaLiga Impulso: first payment from investment fund CVC to Spanish clubs (€400m, 20% of the total)

LaLiga clubs have received the first payment from LaLiga Impulso born from the agreement between the investment fund CVC Capital Partners and the Spanish League, announced LaLiga on 20/01/2022. The sum of this first instalment amounts to €400m, i.e. 20% of the total amount (€1.994bn) planned for the 38 clubs involved (all LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank clubs, with the exception of Athletic Club Bilbao, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF and UD Ibiza).

"The clubs can now start implementing the development plans that have previously been submitted to LaLiga and which will allow them to speed up their modernisation," said the body.

According to the agreement with CVC, the money paid to the clubs must be distributed accordingly:
• "Allocating up to 70% of the funds to investments linked to infrastructure, international development, brand and product development, talent acquisition, communication strategy, innovation and technology.
• Up to 15% can be used to sign players
• The remaining 15% for reducing debt."
