Argentina: imbroglio between Binance and Socios.com over rights to the AFA's fan tokens

Binance, a Hong Kong-based platform specialised in cryptocurrency exchanges, has become a global partner of the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino for five years (2022-2026), announced the AFA on 24/01/2022.

"We are stunned by the statement made public today by AFA announcing an agreement to grant the rights that legally correspond to us, to another provider," said Paco Roche, head of public relations at Socios.com to the Spanish-language media CryptoNoticias the same day.

Indeed, this new partnership with Binance covers the same rights as those in the agreement signed between the Argentine Football Association and Socios.com on 13/05/2021 (for 2021-2023): rights to official AFA Fan Tokens, main sponsor of the national teams and naming rights to the Argentine Men's football league with the Liga Profesional de Fútbol (AFA's internal body created in May 2020 to replace the Superliga).
