"The Serie A and Italian football in general are in danger. The government and political institutions can no longer ignore it. It is a system on the verge of collapse, which certainly had imbalances even before Covid, but which has received practically nothing in the two years of the pandemic. The margins of resistance have been reduced to a minimum," said Giuseppe Marotta, CEO of FC Inter Milan (Serie A TIM), in an interview with the Italian business daily Il Sole 24 Ore on 26/01/2022.

"We are concerned above all with the health of the fans. There is no doubt that with the FFP2 mask, the 'super green pass' (equivalent to the vaccination pass, compulsory for access to stadiums) and the 50% reduction in capacity (in force since the end of December 2021 before the Lega Serie A imposed a capacity limit of a maximum of 5,000 spectators for the period from 15/01 to 05/02/2022, this limit should again be applied in February), the outdoor facilities are safe spaces.
