Handball: LNH to offer weekly programmes on Twitch, including a Friday night multiplex

The streaming platform Twitch (a subsidiary of Amazon) has become an "official supporter" of the Ligue Nationale de Handball (LNH) for the second half of the 2021-22 Liqui Moly StarLigue and ProLigue seasons, announced the body on 28/01/2022.

Twitch and the LNH will offer two programmes each week: "a handball news debrief on Mondays at 12:30 and a multiplex on Friday evenings that the platform will highlight twice a month," explained the body, which is targeting 50,000 subscribers on Twitch "before the end of the 2021-22 season" (2,700 subscribers as of 31/01/2022).

"We have been discussing the issue of Twitch with beIN Sports France (which holds all broadcasting rights to the French championship until 2025-26) for several months. We have had their approval to offer programmes on the platform. It will not be competitive. We will not broadcast beIN Sports' footage, but that produced by the League and already offered on LNH TV.
