Television: French government launches a public consultation on events of major importance

Roselyne Bachelot, French Minister of Culture, and Roxana Maracineanu, Minister Delegate in charge of Sports, are launching a public consultation in order to gather feedback from stakeholders on the updating of the list of events of major importance (EIM) in France, on 28/01/2022. Responses to the consultation must be submitted electronically by 25/02/2022 at the latest.

Following this consultation, the government will communicate this list to the European Commission, which will verify the status of these events and validate the lists submitted by the Member States. Following this procedure, the decree of 22/12/2004 may be amended to include new events. The limited list of these events, established by decree, was drawn up jointly by the French Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Sport in consultation with professionals from the audiovisual and sports sectors. Unchanged since 2004, it currently includes 21 sporting events or competitions.
