FA: Cardiff City demand Richard Bevan resign as chief executive of League Managers’ Association

Cardiff City (WAL, Championship, English second division) along with several anti-discrimination in football organisations, have called for the resignation of Richard Bevan, the chief executive of the LMA (League Managers Association, the union for managers), on 22/08/2014. This followed on the publication of a statement on 21/08/2014, in which he trivialised the racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic and racist messages that were sent from 2011 to 2013 between Malky Mackay and Iain Moody, who were at the time, respectively, the manager and technical director of Cardiff City.

This press release defended Mackay (SCO) after the publication of the SMSes by the British newspaper The Daily Mail on 21/08/2014. The offending posts were described as "was letting off steam to a friend during some friendly text message banter." The LMA's press release was removed from its site on the evening of 21/08/2014 and the union issued an apology on 22/08/2014.
