Spain: creation of "LaLiga Group International" the holding company that links LaLiga to CVC

LaLiga Group International, the new holding company in charge of the development of the strategic LaLiga Impulso project, which unites the Spanish Professional League with the investment fund CVC Capital Partners, has been officially created, announced the body on 01/02/2022. CVC holds 8.2% of the capital.

"The creation of this new company brings with it a new financial injection of €298m, with €220m going to clubs that form part of LaLiga Impulso (all the clubs of LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank, with the exception of Athletic Club Bilbao, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid CF and UD Ibiza, see below) and another €78m to strategic projects promoted by the new holding company. It is the second cash injection since the project was launched, following the payment of €400m in mid-January. These first two financial injections represent 35% of the €1.994bn agreed in the LaLiga Impulso project," explained LaLiga. The next instalment - around €300m - is scheduled for July 2022, with the remainder expected in 2023 and 2024.
