2021-22 Bundesliga: attendance for Matchday 21 (8,425 spectators on average per game)

Matchday 21 of the 2021-22 Bundesliga season drew an average of 8,425 spectators per match from Friday 04 to Sunday 06/02/2022. The average fill rate was 15.6%.

The German public returned to stadiums in slightly larger numbers after three matchdays were almost entirely closed to the public (seven out of 27 games were played behind closed doors, 16 with a symbolic attendance of 1,000 or less) due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Five of the nine games on Matchday 21 were attended by 10,000 spectators, which is the standard at federal level (within 50% of the stadium's capacity) but is not yet applied in all German regions (Länder), particularly in Berlin (only 2,000 spectators at the Olympiastadion for Hertha BSC - VfL Bochum).

A new meeting between the federal state and the 16 Länder is scheduled for 16/02/2022. The German clubs hope that this will lead to an increase in capacity for their stadiums.
