Metaverse: France Télévisions launches a first immersive social space dedicated to sport

The digital innovation department of France Télévisions has launched, with the sports department, the first test of an immersive social space dedicated to sport and the world of the "Stade 2" programme, announced the French public broadcasting group on 07/02/2022.

This space, which will be available free of charge on virtual reality headsets and on PCs via the social VR platform VRChat, will allow users to visit the virtual Stade 2 studio in a winter setting with their friends in the form of an avatar, as well as to take part in virtual and fun sports activities:
- Ski race
- Bobsleigh run
- Rifle shooting (biathlon)
- Treasure hunt

"This first test, centred around social and immersive components, aims to imagine what a broadcaster's place could be within the future metaverse. By using current technology that is accessible to all, it should make it possible to measure the appetite of our audiences for these new formats in order to guide our digital content offer.
