Euro 2032: first a candidate to host Euro 2028, Italy is now aiming for the next edition

"In the last few days the Italian Football Federation presented to UEFA its expression of interest for hosting Euro 2032," announced the FIGC on 07/02/2022.

Well in advance of the deadline of 23/03/2022, the FIGC has communicated its desire to compete for the assignment of the European Championship, a competition hosted in our country in 1968 and 1980 (in addition to the 4 matches of the last travelling edition Euro 2020 postponed until 2021).

"The decisive step for Euro 2028 is in March 2022: we will present our bid, which is also valid for 2032, before the UEFA executive committee on 20/03/2022," declared Gabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, previously on 01/26/2022. However, the Italian Federation has decided to opt for the 2032 edition in order to give itself more time to modernise its infrastructure with the construction of new stadiums and the renovation of existing venues.
