European Top 5: Lille and Lyon top in terms of positive net transfer spending from 2012-2022 (CIES)

LOSC Lille and Olympique Lyonnais are the clubs from the European Top 5 with the best financial balance in terms of net transfer spending (difference between the sale and purchase of players) over the period from the summer of 2012 to the winter of 2022, according to the CIES Footbsall Observatory's "Weekly Post" published on 07/02/2022.

With a positive balance of €349m LOSC Lille are top of the ranking, followed by OL in second place, with a positive balance of €247m and Genoa CFC (Serie A TIM) in third with €200m. Four French clubs (Montpellier Hérault Sport Club and AS Saint-Étienne in addition to the two mentioned above) and four Italian clubs (Udinese Calcio, Atalanta BC and Empoli FC in addition to Genoa) appear in the Top 10 (see ranking below).

AS Monaco FC (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) are second in terms of player transfer revenue over the last decade (€1.104bn, versus an expenditure of €1.018bn), just behind Chelsea FC (Premier League, €1.201bn).
