Qatar 2022: 17 million ticket requests, including 1.8 million for the final, during 1^st sales phase

17 million requests for tickets for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar were registered during the first sales phase organised from 19/01 to 08/02/2022, according to FIFA on 08/02/2022.

With 1.8 million applications, the final, scheduled at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday 18/12/2022, has generated the most interest. These 1.8 million requests represent 22.5 times the total capacity of the stadium (80,000 capacity) which will host the final of the XXII World Cup.

Qatari residents made the majority of the requests. Others came from neighbouring countries (United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia), Europe (England, France), South America (Argentina, Brazil) and other regions (United States, Mexico, India).

"All successful, partially successful and unsuccessful applicants will be duly notified of the outcome of their applications as of Tuesday, 08/03/2022, along with the steps to follow and the payment deadline for allocated tickets," said FIFA.
