FIFA: €900m (+74.7%) from 3,534 international transfers during the 2022 winter transfer market

Men's professional football clubs spent $1.03bn (€900m) on transfer fees during the 2022 winter transfer market (data from 01 to 31/01/2022), an increase of 74.7% compared to 2021 ($590m/€486m), according to the "International Transfer Snapshot" report, published by FIFA on 08/02/2022.

3,534 international transfers, of which 3,001 (84.9%) were for free agents, were recorded over the period, an increase of 28% compared to the 2021 winter transfer market (2,761 transfers). English clubs spent the most ($349.5m/€306.1m) and generated the most transfer revenue ($108.6m/€95.1m) over the period. In terms of number of transfers, Brazil dominate the ranking (201 incoming and 176 outgoing transfers).

In women's football, 257 international transfers were recorded (+42.8% versus 2021). 21 of these resulted in a payment from the host club, for a total of $487,800 (€427,173m) spent (+57.3% compared to 2021).
