England: adidas terminates its contract with Kurt Zouma following acts of animal abuse

adidas has terminated its sponsorship contract with Kurt Zouma (27) following a video published by the British daily newspaper The Sun on 07/02/2022, in which the French defender for West Ham United FC (Premier League) is seen mistreating his cat, according to British media on 09/02/2022.

The endowment fund Seed, whose missions focus on health, education, the environment and sport, is also ending its collaboration with the French international. "Despite his status as ambassador and his commitment to the service of Seed, which we salute, we have, by mutual agreement with Kurt Zouma, decided to put an end to our collaboration," explained Seed on 09/02/2022.

Kurt Zouma has been fined the "maximum amount possible" by his club, £300,000 (€262,698). "The player has immediately accepted the fine and has requested that it is donated to animal welfare charities," said the London club on 09/02/2022. Kurt Zouma also "voluntarily" handed over the family's two cats to the RSPCA "for examination."
