Germany: working towards a professionalisation of women's football under the supervision of the DFB

Against the outsourcing of women's football (outside the German Football Association), but in favour of a sustainable professionalisation of the two top women's leagues (Flyeralarm Frauen-Bundesliga and 2. Frauen-Bundesliga) under the supervision of the DFB, are the two principles unanimously adopted by the German Women's Federal League Committee in view of the DFB federal assembly on 11/03/2022, announced the German Football Association on 14/02/2022.

The Football Association of the Rhineland (FVR) had submitted a motion which provided for the independence of the Women's Federal Leagues, as confirmed by Theo Zwanziger, former president of the German Football Association and honorary president of the Rhineland Association, on 03/10/2021: "We want to throw a spanner in the works: the top women's league needs to have a perspective outside of a field that is casting a long shadow over it," he explained, therefore calling for the creation of a women's professional league based on the DFL model.
