Qatar 2022: Claro (telecoms, MEX), regional supporter of the World Cup for South America

Claro, a Mexican telecommunications operator belonging to the América Móvil group, has become a "regional supporter" of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for the South American market, announced FIFA on 15/02/2022. The competition will be held in eight stadiums in the Persian Gulf emirate from 21/11 to 18/12/2022.

The partnership covers eight countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. "Claro will leverage its association with the tournament by running unique promotions to connect with the passionate fans across South America through brand assets, tickets and pre-produced content," said FIFA.

The Mexico City-based group joins Nubank (banking, BRA), Ooredoo (telecommunications, QAT), GWC (logistics, QAT) and QNB Group (banking, QAT) as a third level partner of the first football World Cup to be held in the Middle East.
