Groupe M6: a turnover of €1.436bn (+11.5%) and net profit of €280.8m (+1.5%) in 2021

The French private free-to-air TV group M6 posted a turnover of €1.436bn in 2021, up 11.5% compared to 2020 and down 1.4% versus 2019, according to the financial results published by the group on 15/02/2022.

Operating profit was €390.5m (+2.5% vs 2020; +42.1% vs 2019), while net profit was €280.8m (+1.5% vs 2020; +63.4% vs 2019). Net profit thus reached its highest level ever, excluding the 2006 financial year, which was impacted by the sale of TPS (capital gain of €256.8m).

TV programming costs reached €516.6m, compared with €433.7m in 2020 (an increase of €82.9m year-on-year) and €501.3m in 2019. "The group has resumed its investment in programmes, notably with the broadcasting of UEFA Euro 2020 and a number of new dramas in the second half of the year, while continuing to optimise the management of its various schedules," said the group headed by Nicolas de Tavernost.

The group's operating margin is 24.9% (23.5% excluding non-recurring items), compared with 21.3% in 2020 and 19.5% in 2019.
