France: M. Saada (Canal+) named president of the Association for the Protection of Sports Programmes

Maxime Saada, president of the board of directors at Canal+ group, has been appointed as president of the French Association for the Protection of Sports Programmes (APPS), on 16/02/2022.

Maxime Saada succeeds Arnaud Rouger, CEO of the LFP, who in turn succeeded Yousef Al-Obaidly, president of beIN Sports France. The presidency of the association, founded in 2018, changes every two years.

"The association wishes to continue the effective collaboration with the public authorities and the various stakeholders for the full implementation of the new system which, having come into force in January 2022, allows Arcom to request the removal of sites that illegally broadcast sports content. The application of this specific regulation has already led to strong decisions to block infringing sites, illustrating the full potential of the coordinated mobilisation of judicial and administrative authorities, technical intermediaries and rights holders, which should be reinforced in the coming months," explained the APPS.
