Italy: FIGC grants a deadline of 25/02/2022, for the Lega Serie A to modify its statutes

The Lega Serie A has until 25/02/2022 to modify its statutes, as required by the Italian Federation, providing in particular for a simple majority (11 votes out of 20 clubs) for votes currently planned with a two-thirds majority (14 out of 20), announced the FIGC following a federal council meeting on 16/02/2022. In the absence of such a vote, a professor, Gennaro Terracciano, will be appointed to manage the Professional League, whose president, Paolo Dal Pino, resigned on 01/02/2022.

The mandate of Gennaro Terracciano, vice-rector of the Foro Italico University of Rome, would therefore begin on 26/02/2022, but would not extend beyond 15/03/2022, as decided by the Federation, thus leaving the "ad hoc commissioner" 18 days to complete the reform of the Lega Serie A statutes.

Luca Percassi, vice-president of Lega Serie A, had asked the Federation for an extension of the deadline for amending the statutes until 31/03/2022, in a letter dated 11/02/2022.
