Russia 2018: Spartak Moscow's Otkrytie Arena (capacity 42,000) officially completed

Spartak Moscow's (RUS) Otkrytie Arena (capacity 42,000) was officially completed on 27/08/2014. For the occasion, the Russian president Vladimir Putin and the sports minister, Vitaly Mutko, visited the stadium located in north-west Moscow.

The construction of Spartak Moscow's stadium, the Otkrytie Arena, cost 14bn rubles to the club, or €312m, announced Leonid Fedoun, the owner of Spartak, on 02/01/2014.

The stadium was in construction since December 2010. It is part of the 12 stadiums selected to host the 2018 World Cup in Russia. It is also part of the four stadiums that will host the 2017 Confederations Cup.

The Otkrytie Arena can host concerts and shows. The capacity will then be extended to 45,000.

Spartak Moscow signed a naming contract with the Russian bank Otkrytie in February 2013; it is currently paying €4.8m per year to the club through the 2013-2019 period. Otkrytie is also Spartak's main shirt sponsor since the beginning of the 2013-14 season.
