NBA: AT&T to use the latest technology to enhance the 2022 All-Star Game

The American telecommunications group AT&T has activated its partnership with the National Basketball Association for the 2022 All-Star Game and is offering 5G enabled augmented reality (AR) metaverse experiences, according to the group based in Dallas (Texas, USA) on 16/02/2022. The All-Star Weekend, the NBA's annual gala event, is being held at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland (Ohio, USA) from 18 to 20/02/2022.

In the run-up to the All-Star Weekend, the American body is offering the "NBA Crossover", a meeting event between NBA stars and fans in Cleveland. AT&T is inviting users of its Playmaker application to personalise their own virtual avatars by receiving a 3D scan of their body for the NBA Crossover. Using AR, users will be able to step into digital environments, including five basketball courts with a 2022 All-Star Weekend theme.
